Havahart Pets

I almost thought of giving this place a 2 star review because at one time this store was a good place for a consumer to patronize until they lost their way and started enforcing strict return policies. Anyone that deals with cichlids know how finicky a fish they are and finding good tank mates are challenging at times. This store once knew that, now they tell you tough luck on bringing fish back and expect you to just give them back and you take the loss while they reap the benefits of a discarded fish to sell to someone else. Total big corporate ideology that makes this small business not worth supporting. The great aspect of a small business is exactly opposite of this and they are supposed to work with a customer because they value the customer…..go find a better store with better treatment of their customers. At this point I see no difference between this store and the chain pet stores.

I went in after visiting 4 other pet stores in the area and was astounded by the difference in animal care Havahart displayed. When shopping for fish it’s not uncommon to see sick or deceased fish at big box stores but you won’t see that at havahart. The live animals they had in store were all THRIVING while waiting for their forever home. And their selection was magnificent. Every odd ball fish, plant, and even supply I was looking for at those other stores and couldn’t find, they had. The staff was very knowledgeable and kind despite me asking for fish 10 minutes before close. Thank you Darlene and coworkers for excellent service I received. I’ll definitely be back to see if I can special order fish!

Great place for pets they are healthy and employees are generally very knowledgeable. Overall nice small town pet shop. Good prices, clean healthy animals, good selection of fish, snakes, spiders, turtles, and small mamals.

This is a great little pet shop. They have several different types of animals. Some of which I have never seen before, such as a Ghost Praying Mantis. They also have really big rats. From what I understand they actually make great pets. Sort of like a mini dog. You can even teach them tricks and cuddle with them! I don't think that I've seen rats like that in any other pet store. They also have really great prices. They also offer services like nail trims and grooming, but only for dogs, I think. I could be wrong though. I'd definitely check them out for both pets and pet needs. **UPDATE** At the time that I first reviewed this place I really thought it was great. Until we bought 3 pet rats that got sick VERY shortly after we got them. The owner said he'd treat them for us, but his idea of treating them was spraying something in their faces which probably made them even more sick. I wouldn't buy any animals or anything from there ever again.
